LSAG TODAY

You are warmly welcome to the Living Springs Assemblies of God (LSAG) Church at the University of Ghana, Legon. The Living Springs Assemblies of God (LSAG) is part of the Assemblies of God Churches in Ghana. It is led by Rev. Micheal N. K. Atisu and Associate Pastor Mrs. Susana Atisu, supported by a five-member leadership board. Currently, the Church has a membership of about 250 adults and 80 children.
In the beginning Professors Ebenezer Assibey-Berko, Edward Ofori Sarpong, Naa John Sebiyam Nabilia, Kofi Oduro Afriyie and Mrs. Grace Bentil under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and with the support of Mr. Baba Mahama and then AG General Superintendent Rev. Dr. Simon B. Asore championed the establishment of the LSAG Church.
The mustard seed comprising of seven founding members grew to 104 members comprising 46 active adults, 50 active children and eight members abroad by the time LSAG was celebrating its 5th Anniversary in September 2007 under the theme “Kept by the Power of God.”
Membership comprised mainly members of the University Community and neighbouring communities such as Okponglo, Mempeasem, Shiashie and then Institute or Professional Studies (IPS) now, University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) as well as graduates from the Assemblies of God Campus Ministries (AGCM). Most of the members joined the Church following evangelistic activities embarked on by LSAG such as door-to-door evangelism, sharing of bible-based tracts and open air crusades with the support of the AGCM.
In the future, LSAG under the leadership of the LORD through the Senior Pastor and the Church Board intends to continue executing our mandate as indicated in our vision, mission and objectives as well as venture into territories hitherto unexplored as the Spirit might lead in consonance with the vision of the Assemblies of God Church in Ghana.

Men Ministry

The vision of the Men Ministry is to form a formidable group that will promote the spiritual, social and economic well-being of all LSAG men. The values for the Ministry comprise integrity, excellence and mutual care and love. The Men Ministry is made of 32 active members, in addition to 27 Path Finders and 20 Royal Rangers, adding up to 79 in all. It is led by Mr. Bernard Azumah.

The Ministry is mandated to inspire and mobilise men in the church for effective Christian service and authentic Christianity through Christian stewardship. They are also to support the Pastor through collaboration to grow the church and spearhead financial growth to secure the church economically. The Men Ministry meets once every first Thursday of the month.

Women Ministry

The Women Ministry comprises all the women of the Living Springs Assemblies of God Church. The Ministry seeks to build the capacities of women socially, economically and spiritually to impact their families, communities, professions and the church positively for Christ.

Pastor Mrs. Susana Atisu has been very instrumental in developing various auxiliaries of the Ministry. The auxiliaries of the Women Ministry are the following: JOY Fellowship for busy career professional women; the Young Singles, a sub-group where young women of marriageable age are mentored holistically before marriage and the Missionnettes – a group that grooms young girls into becoming godly, virtuous and responsible women in future. Currently, the LSAG Women Ministry is led by Mrs. Sarah Attidokpo, while the JOY Fellowship is under the leadership of Mrs. Wendy Tsey; the Young Singles is led by Ms. Ruby Odoi while Miss Mercy Hammond mentors the Missionettes.

The Women Ministry meets together regularly to study the word of God and to pray to build the spirituality of women and the church as well as engage in personal evangelism of the community. They also identify and help the needy in the church and the community as part of the Church’s social responsibility. The Women Ministry and its auxiliaries comprise 125 members who meet every second Monday once every month.

Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry constitutes the unmarried members of the Church between the ages of 12 and 35. It has a total membership of 35. Out of this number, some are students while others are workers. The group is led by Yedoupape Koku Lare. The Teens Church have an active membership of 45 young people.

The mandate of the Youth Ministry is to produce Christian men and women of sound biblical convictions, godly character and integrity, strong spiritual acumen and stable social standing to positively impact their world for Christ. In furtherance of this, the Youth Ministry (YM) meets regularly to promote the spiritual lives of its members by providing opportunities for worship, Bible study, fellowship, training and evangelism.

The LSAG YM also creates opportunities for wholesome fellowship among young people as well as promotes interactions with adult mentors. Socialisation often takes the form of rallies and get-togethers. Further, the physical well-being of members is also catered for through programmes such as keep-fit sessions, walkathons, football, basketball as well as other sporting activities.

They meet twice a month on Saturdays and Sundays.

 Sunday School

The Sunday School Department is responsible for the training in discipleship, leadership and education of the entire membership of the Church in matters of Bible Truths and Christian character. The aim of the Sunday School Department is to reach and teach each member basic tenets of the Bible encapsulated in the Sunday School manual so that members grow to become disciples of Jesus and make disciples of others too (Mathew 28:19, 20).

The Sunday School Department is responsible for the training in discipleship, leadership and education of the entire membership of the Church in matters of Bible Truths and Christian character. The aim of the Sunday School Department is to reach and teach each member basic tenets of the Bible encapsulated in the Sunday School manual so that members grow to become disciples of Jesus and make disciples of others too (Mathew 28:19, 20).

LSAG Sunday School teachings are delivered by a team of committed adult teachers and children’s teachers. Membership of the Department comprises teachers who are registered members of LSAG. The Sunday School is led by Ms. Abigail Dackson. Currently, LSAG has seven adult Sunday School classes. They are two classes for the adult English class and a youth class; Twi, Ga, French and Ewe classes as well as new membership classes for teaching new members in Christian doctrines as well as AG tenets. There is also a teens’ class.

Sunday School also works to engage members and teachers in active personal and church evangelism in addition to promoting visitation to both regular and non-regular members in order to build church membership. Teachers of Sunday School undergo periodic capacity building training sessions to be abreast with new teaching methods to enable effective teaching and character transformation through the Holy Spirit. For the past twenty (20) years, the LSAG Sunday School department with the support of the church leadership, has not relented in its duties.

In the years ahead, our prayer is to see commitment from the entire church membership to Sunday School and for that matter, increase in the knowledge of the Word. The total membership of the church is over 400.

Children Ministry

The LSAG Children Department conducts a ministry of teaching, worship and attends to the special needs and interests of children in the church.

The Living Springs Assemblies of God (LSAG) Children Department is headed by Pastor Mrs. Susanna Atisu who is trained to nurture children in biblical tenets to enable them acquire godly values and cultivate Christian lifestyles. Pastor Mrs. Atisu is ably supported to carry out her role by a team of nine workers.

Additionally, the Children ministry has 120 children. This comprises ten toddlers (1-3 years), forty children within the age range of 4-6 years, forty pre-teen children aged between 7-11 years and thirty teenage children of ages 12-16. The vision of the LSAG Children Ministry is to produce Holy Spirit-filled children whose knowledge and understanding of the Word of God will equip them to make a positive impact in their generation.

The mission of the Children Ministry is to:

  • Reach out, disciple and raise children who will influence society for Jesus.
  • Raise and prepare children for heaven.
  • Train children who will take up leadership roles and responsibilities in the church.

Activities that are typically conducted for the children include prayer, Sunday School, Bible Studies and a main Church service comprising of praise and worship, word ministration, song ministration, offerings and a snack break.

Other Groupings

In addition to the above departments, LSAG also has a vibrant Music Ministry made up of men and women who minister through edifying music. It is led by Mrs. Nana Serwaa Addo.

Further, there is a working Missions team that is mandated to execute the Great Commission of taking the Gospel to the lost. The Prayer Team also supports the Church and its membership with prayers. They are led by Mr. Christian Papah Awudi.

Additionally, the Hospitality team comprising Temple Keepers, Protocol and Ushering teams is led by Ms. Daphne Lariba Nabila.
